Option to Protect
"Each team is allowed the opportunity to "protect" one expiring minor league contract in which a player has yet to earn the minimum requirements to be drafted in the bidding process. The team would then sign that player to a 0/2 contract, and the option would stay with that player (0 or 1), for example if you "protect" a player with a 0/1/1 contract his new contract would be 0/2/1, but if he didn't have an option before his new contract would be 0/2/0. If a team chooses not to protect that player then he would just go back to the minor league draft pool.
By re-signing that player to a 0/2 contract you would then forfeit your 2nd round minor league pick in the upcoming draft - as the players teams want to retain would be determined prior to the start of preseason drafts. That 2nd round pick would not go to another team, there would just be fewer selections made in the 2nd round. So if three teams decide to resign players then the 2nd round would only have 9 picks that year. And at the end of the 0/2 contract you would still have the ability to exercise the match option on that player."
The following players have this option:
Soultakers - Jasson Dominguez
The Wicked Jester - Simeon Woods-Richardson
The Wicked Jester - Marco Luciano
Let me know if you want to protect any of these players, if not they will be eligible for the minor league draft at a 0/4/1 contract.
Buy Out Option
"Prior to the start of each season the commish will give teams a chance to exercise a buy-out option on any player(s) under contract, both on major league rosters and released lists. The buy-out option allows teams to reduce the years on a player contract but increases the salary at which that player is signed. If you choose to exercise the buy-out option on any player, the player contract length will be reduced from the original length but the player salary will be increased, so the total dollars paid out for the remainder of the contract remains the same. So, if you wanted to buy out a 2/3 contract, you could turn it into a 6/1. A 2/4 contract could be converted to a 4/2 or an 8/1. All buy-out options must be posted prior to the start of the season. Since the maximum contract allowed is $10, you will be limited to only certain players/situations."
Please post here any players you would like to buy out.
