As experienced in last year's football draft, the current max bid of $8 million/year means that the competition for good FA's is limited and many of those players ended up staying on Loyalty Rights. It has been suggested that we raise the max salary to allow for greater competitive results. Do you agree and what should the max $ bid be?

BTW - I posted this to help Jeremy. Since I am no longer an owner, I won't be voting.

$8 not enough but jump to $12 right away might be too much. Voted $8 but would vote for $10 if that's an option. Maybe $12 the season after.

I would prefer 10 to 12 also...what about just reducing the salary cap...effectively the same thing?

I say reduce the cap to $80 this year and look at a further reduction in the next couple years. There's no one even close to $80 right now and we could give people time to start planning for future reductions.

Reducing team salary is not even for all whereas an increase in max bids is even for all.
Cobesters has $49 million to fill 8 slots plus in-season moves. Cutting the cap would leave him only $29 million and put the team at a distinct bidding disadvantage.

I'd prefer 10 over 12.... but would choose 12 if that was the only choice.

In my haste to get this up, I didn't provide enough choices. That was my doing, not Jeremy's. Sorry that it caused trouble. I was working off of last year's discussion where $12 seemed to be a number that several supported and that made sense mathematically in making new bidding strategy more challenging. A new revised poll might be in order. That's as much as I know here, and I will leave it to you who are going to live with the result during the season.

Don't think reducing the cap would be fair because teams have commitments already for several years based on the old cap.
