If I make a trade that lower my salary, during the regular season, does that give me room to add free agents? - Curious Owner Pigskin and Leather Yes and if any of your players are picked up by other owners off your released list they come off your cap and you would have more room.

Actually, there are several ways to replace injured players. Once the season starts you can pick players fro the FA list at 1/1 if you have cap room. You can also have a few players on your minor league roster who have made the major league roster or who might get called up during the season. You can also pick up players from other teams released lists once the season starts. Some of these require cap room but there will be a few who have been released from minor league contracts at 0/ / who turn out to have value. The rules can't address every possibility. You just have to manage your team so you stay within the cap limit.

OK, read 'em and weep - or cheer if you prefer... Soultakers 1st place 1.S Cishek 4/1 - signed 4. R Madson 2/1 - signed
... Hey Mike, I hadn't paid any attention to 2nd round bidding until tonight, since I wasn't submitting bids, but I just want to make sure I've got the rule correct about these bids. Madson was signed by me last year for multiple years and was still on my released list for this year at same salary. Is this 2nd round bid valid? If so, that gets him off my released list and gives me cap room, but I just want to be sure. And I had also figured that he would be available to flip/flop with other players on my released list until someone picked him up at that full salary.

Good catch, Gary. I think the way this goes is that the bid isn't valid, but it would make sense that any player who bid on him would be interestd on picking him up off your released list once those players are free to get. (See earlier discussion about released players being off-limits during the bidding rounds.) Anyone have a different interpretation than that?

Sorry I missed that one Gary, anyway scratch the Madson signing. 7/2 is too rich for me maybe later this year...

I should have avoided the thread and gotten the cap room! Nah, I think at the end of April it'll be good to be able to bring him up if he closes again, or for someone to take him off my released list before I pick him back up.

Sorry, I thought I posted this yesterday. I'll sign Dirks and Moreland and release Walden and Texiera to make room. I'll pass on any otheres. I noticed Pierynski is already on someone's roster from the 1st round. I'll be skipping the FA draft.

Got it. Thanx, Rich.
Only one decision left for this 2nd round - whether Voodoo a kings want to sign Alexei Ramirez as a 3rd place winner.
If all owners can make sure to add their winning bids to their ESPN rosters, I'll make the needed changes to the rosters on this message board. (Complete on all except for Voodoo.)
Thanx.
Note: will be out of touch for most of tomorrow, as we'll be driving back home - ~10 hour drive.

Thanx, Doug.
The 2nd round bids are done, and all message board rosters have been adjusted for the bid results.
We've got a little over a week to get the FA draft finished in time for opening day. Sounds doable to me.
